About The Position

This role is part of Blue Origin National Security, which is supported by multiple business units across all Blue Origin facilities. We are seeking a skilled and experienced Industrial Engineer to join our team in Huntsville, AL. In this role, you will be responsible for analyzing and optimizing our production processes to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and increase overall productivity. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive data-informed decisions, implement process improvements, and support our digital transformation efforts. Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 8+ years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing engineering role.
  • Demonstrated experience in process analysis, evaluation, and improvement.
  • Proficiency with data analysis and visualization tools, including Excel, Power BI, and Databricks.
  • Strong data literacy, including experience with ETL, SQL, and data modeling.
  • Ability to create and share dashboards and present actionable insights to leadership.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Active Secret or Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance.
  • Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with SAP/MRP systems and developing optimized scheduling tools.
  • Proven ability to build scalable and sustainable models for product flow optimization.
  • Experience leading digital transformation efforts and driving change using agile methodologies.
  • Familiarity with designing interactive user interfaces for manufacturing environments.
  • Strong project management skills with a track record of meeting timelines and deliverables.
  • Experience building simulation models utilizing intelligent objects and 3D facility visualization to evaluate and optimize manufacturing processes, material flow, and capacity planning within an industrial engineering context.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed analysis and evaluation of production processes, including lead times, queue times, work-in-process, and cycle times to identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop and implement solutions to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and improve overall productivity and throughput.
  • Optimize facility layout to improve production flow and space utilization.
  • Assist with new construction projects, providing input on facility design and layout.
  • Develop custom tools to help scale production and support the shop floor.
  • Build scalable and sustainable models to optimize product flow, while incorporating cost, schedule, and resource constraints.
  • Develop optimized scheduling tools and align SAP/MRP systems with an executable plan given various capacity constraints.
  • Utilize Power BI and other data systems to develop performance visuals; create and maintain accurate documentation of process changes and updates.
  • Create new metrics and data visualizations to monitor shop floor performance and provide actionable insights.
  • Collaborate with IT, ERP, business analytics, and data science teams to communicate requirements for planning and systems framework.
  • Work with developers to design an interactive user interface that will be effective at scheduling jobs across cost centers.
  • Lead and drive positive change using iterative and agile methodologies to guide digital transformation efforts.
  • Identify potential safety hazards and recommend solutions to mitigate risks, adhering to all company policies and safety guidelines.
  • Train and guide production staff on new processes and procedures.
