Collins Aerospace, Troy OH, is seeking a highly motivated Industrial Engineer to support the manufacturing, continuous improvement, and digital transformation of aerospace wheel and brake manufacturing. This role will be responsible for optimizing manufacturing processes, improving operational efficiency, increasing production throughput, reducing costs, and enhancing product quality while ensuring compliance with aerospace industry standards.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Value Stream Mapping, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Experience with manufacturing data analysis and performance metrics.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, Power BI, ERP/MRP systems, and statistical analysis tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in aerospace, aviation, defense, automotive, or highly regulated manufacturing industries.
  • Knowledge of aerospace quality systems and regulatory requirements.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
  • Familiarity with Python, SQL, Power BI, Tableau, Power Automate, or other analytics and automation tools.
  • Experience working with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms.
  • Experience working with MES such as Solumina G8, or similar platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and optimize manufacturing processes for aerospace wheel and brake products to improve output, productivity, quality, safety, and cost performance.
  • Maintain and control labor/set-up/machine standard hours and work center configurations in SAP.
  • Conduct time studies, process mapping, value stream mapping, and work measurement analyses.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives utilizing CORE, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and other operational excellence methodologies.
  • Identify bottlenecks and implement solutions to improve throughput, cycle times, and product lead times.
  • Monitor and analyze machine utilization to identify improvement opportunities and implement action plans that enhance equipment efficiency, increase capacity, and maximize productivity.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing layouts, workflows, and capacity models.
  • Support production planning activities through capacity analysis and resource optimization.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Operations, Supply Chain, and Maintenance teams to resolve production challenges.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to efficiency, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Participate in new product introductions and manufacturing readiness activities.
  • Ensure compliance with aerospace quality systems, regulatory requirements, and safety standards.
  • Evaluate current workflows and recommend AI-enabled solutions to improve productivity, quality, forecasting, and decision-making.
  • Support development of digital dashboards, automated reporting systems, and intelligent workflow tools.
