Requirements

US Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Postal Service security clearance. Clearance is required to start.
Be enrolled full-time and pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited college/university AND graduating after August 2027.
Majoring in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related discipline.
Overall cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 or higher (unofficial academic transcripts required upon application).
Available to work full-time (40 hours/week) for at least 10 weeks during Summer 2027.
Local to the Topeka, KS area or able to commute onsite daily.

Nice To Haves

3.7 cumulative GPA or higher.
Strong analytical, presentation, and communication skills.
Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement tools.
Experience with data analysis software (Excel, Power BI, or similar).
Experience working autonomously on complex engineering or operations projects.
Experience contributing to full life-cycle engineering or process improvement projects.

Responsibilities

Apply industrial engineering principles to improve workflow, throughput, and process efficiency within the CRF repair and refurbishment environment.
Assist in developing time studies, process flow diagrams, and equipment layout optimizations.
Support continuous improvement activities including root-cause analysis, Lean methodologies, and waste-reduction initiatives.
Collect, analyze, and report production and performance data to identify improvement opportunities.
Help evaluate tooling, material handling solutions, and workstation design for ergonomic and efficiency enhancements.
Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams on process standardization and documentation.
Support the creation or updating of SOPs, job aids, and technical process documentation.
