About The Position

Industrial Engineers apply advanced problem-solving techniques and Lean Manufacturing principles to develop and optimize factories to maximize throughput, efficiency, and value. Industrial Engineers are involved in Capacity Planning, Manpower Planning, Factory Layout, Line Balancing, Simulation and Process Modeling, Labor Performance Analysis, Process Mapping, and Project Management. This position involves direct support of manufacturing activities and requires spending significant amounts of time in and around factory areas.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics
  • Experience with CAD Software
  • Experience with project management
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Experience may be obtained through on‑the‑job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred majors are: Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience/Education with capacity/constraint analysis
  • Experience/Education with discrete event simulation modeling

Responsibilities

  • Analyze manufacturing system performance to identify undesirable effects and opportunities for improvement.
  • Calculate resource utilization and identify throughput constraints.
  • Apply Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing principles to eliminate constraints, improve efficiency, and meet or exceed cost, quality, and on-time delivery goals.
  • Create process flows, value stream maps, pareto charts, spaghetti diagrams, and CAD drawings to graphically show manufacturing processes, the movement of material, the exchange of information, and key metrics.
  • Contribute to strategic roadmaps focused on factory expansion, manufacturing technology insertion, infrastructure improvements, obsolescence mitigation, and the integration of new capabilities.
  • Partner with project managers and other functions to execute projects that modify the factory footprint, change the layout of factory equipment, and/or add new capability.
  • Support competitive bids, factory proposals, business case development for future investments, and Make/Buy/Where analyses.
  • Participate in factory safety and ergonomic improvements.
