About The Position

Printpack’s Industrial Engineering team is seeking an Industrial Engineer Co-Op for Summer 2026. This position will provide you with a unique opportunity to work directly with Industrial Engineers planning and executing process improvement, layout, and material handling projects across the enterprise. This full-time, paid position located in Atlanta, GA will report to the Manager, Facilities Improvement and Support. This is a great opportunity to get hands-on experience interacting with a world class manufacturing organization as well as being exposed to the latest technology in the packaging industry. The Facilities Improvement and Support group, part of the Printpack Engineering Department, supports Printpack’s existing infrastructure through capital projects, process improvements, and program management thereby creating a more sustainable manufacturing base. Industrial Engineers in the group develop plant and machine layouts, material handling systems, process improvement projects, and ergonomic/safety improvements. Co-ops start by supporting the project work of staff engineers and are later given project work of their own according to their demonstrated level of skill and knowledge. Project work will provide the opportunity to visit Printpack locations throughout the USA.

Requirements

  • Candidate must be pursuing a degree in Industrial Engineering or related engineering degree and have a GPA of 3.0 or better

Responsibilities

  • With the coaching of a senior industrial engineer, develops and implements manufacturing process improvements.
  • Identifies opportunities for cost reduction, lead-time reduction, inventory reduction, waste reduction, and quality improvement.
  • Evaluates current machinery and layout and recommends improvements that enhance productivity, safety, and ergonomics.
  • Assists development of plant and equipment layout and construction to optimize space, manpower and utilization needs.
  • May be involved in local plant construction projects for design and consulting.
  • May oversee portions of construction projects and schedules.
  • Troubleshoots downtime, waste, and process-related issues.
  • Researches and analyzes alternate or new equipment and manufacturing methods.
  • Collaborates closely with plant associates at all levels to ensure chalkboard solutions meet real-world requirements.
  • Enforces safety rules daily, and actively intervenes to correct recognized unsafe actions and conditions.
