Industrial Electrician (Field Service)
About The Position
Sunbelt Rentals is hiring an Industrial Electrician – Road Technician to support our growing Power & HVAC division in Alberta. In this role, you’ll diagnose, maintain, and repair industrial electrical systems, power distribution equipment, and temporary power solutions—working independently in the field to keep our customers running. Our specialized fleet includes: Industrial power distribution systems, Generators and temporary power solutions, Electrical control panels and switchgear, Industrial heaters and HVAC electrical systems, Pumps and related support equipment, Diesel engines and associated electrical controls.
Requirements
- Industrial Electrician experience in commercial or industrial settings
- Journeyperson Industrial Electrician certification (Red Seal required)
- Strong knowledge of: Power generation systems, PLCs, VFDs, and electrical controls, Troubleshooting electrical systems in the field
- Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical drawings
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
- Valid driver’s license and personal hand tools
Nice To Haves
- Experience with generators, diesel engines, HVAC electrical systems, or pumps is considered an asset.
Responsibilities
- Perform advanced diagnostics and repairs on: Power generation equipment and generators, Electrical distribution systems and switchgear, Industrial control systems, PLCs, and VFDs, Temporary power setups and job site systems
- Troubleshoot complex electrical and control system issues
- Complete preventive maintenance to maximize uptime and safety
- Work independently as a field technician across multiple customer sites
- Ensure all work complies with electrical codes, safety, and environmental standards
- Support commissioning and setup of temporary power and equipment installations
