About The Position

This position is responsible for responding to mill breakdowns in a timely and efficient manner, working closely with area operators to resolve maintenance-related issues. The role involves investigating the root cause of equipment failure, making recommendations for long-term fixes, and developing Preventative Maintenance (PM) plans in collaboration with Planners. The Industrial Electrician will lead troubleshooting efforts, ensure proper documentation in maintenance logbooks, and manage the RIP (Reliability Improvement Program) process for downtime, including sending RIP communications before the end of the shift. Responsibilities also include communicating maintenance issues at meetings, following up on outstanding issues from previous shifts, entering notifications for required follow-up work, and completing assigned work orders or PM activities. The role requires providing recommendations for improving troubleshooting resources and being aware of maintenance issues throughout the mill. There is an opportunity to lead projects from start to finish, involving consultation with manufacturers/distributors, obtaining quotes, making purchase requests, developing job plans/timelines, installation, commissioning, updating prints, developing PMs, and creating training manuals. The position supports the crew in operate/maintain activities during emergencies or short staffing and requires participation in maintenance and group functional meetings/training sessions.

Requirements

  • College graduate with Electrical Technician / Technologist Diploma and/or hold a valid ticket as a certified Industrial or Construction Electrician.
  • 3+ years electrical maintenance experience in an automated industrial setting is an asset
  • Demonstrates a strong awareness towards safety.
  • Strong knowledge of Rockwell based automated systems.
  • Good understanding of instrumentation devices and their integration in an automated system.
  • Good understanding of power distribution systems: transformers, PDCs, MCC etc.
  • Strong commitment to excellence and attention to detail.
  • Proven problem solver with solid analytical skills.
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with staff, peers, and industry colleagues/contacts in a team environment.
  • Excellent computer skills, particularly in AutoCAD and Microsoft based programs.
  • Demonstrates flexibility in adapting to a wide variety of tasks and functions.
  • Strong multi-tasking and prioritization skills with the ability to adapt to change.
  • Ability to work a rotating 12-Hour Shift Schedule.
  • Ability to work effectively as a part of the Maintenance Team to achieve all departmental goals.

Responsibilities

  • Be aware of maintenance issues throughout the mill or assigned area (logbooks, interaction with operators).
  • Possibly lead a project from start to finish (consulting with manufactures / distributors, getting quotes, making purchase requests, developing job plans / timelines, install, commission, update prints, develop PMs, training manuals, etc.).
  • Support the crew in operate / maintain activities to keep the mill operating during an emergency or short staffing conditions.
  • Participate in maintenance meetings and other group functional meetings / training sessions.
