Under general supervision, perform a variety of highly skilled maintenance electrician tasks involving high voltages. This role involves performing terminal and electrical service, equipment and system repair, maintenance, testing, and installation tasks for a variety of facilities. The position requires responding to scheduled or emergency situations, troubleshooting and repairing or replacing wiring circuits for lights, wind socks, guidance signs, lighting controls, and other systems involving high voltage stations. This includes working with 460-volt switchgear, computerized motor controls, programmable controllers, and other related electrical equipment. The role also involves troubleshooting and repairing a variety of electrical systems and apparatus such as conveyor belts, lighting circuits, escalators, HVAC, street illumination devices, and pumps used in water treatment and storm water systems. Additionally, the position requires identifying and acquiring parts for replacement, performing preventative maintenance, testing and validating results, operating vehicles and equipment, and maintaining records. The role also includes installing new or enhanced electrical services, equipment, or systems, which involves wiring, connecting, testing, and coordinating with other trades and vendors. A key responsibility is supervising subordinate electricians, which includes assigning, scheduling, guiding, monitoring work, appraising performance, training new employees, and enforcing rules. The role also involves performing duties of coworkers and subordinates as necessary, coordinating system upgrades, and responding to emergency calls.
