Plan, layout, install, and repair wiring, conduit, electrical fixtures, apparatus and control equipment. This role requires the attainment of NCCER certifications, either written and/or practical. The electrician will prepare sketches showing the location of wiring and equipment or follow diagrams/blueprints, ensuring concealed wiring is installed before completion of walls, ceilings, and flooring. They will measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduit, pull wiring through conduit, and splice wires. The electrician connects wiring to fixtures and power equipment, installs control and distribution apparatus, and connects power cables to equipment while installing grounding leads. They will test circuit continuity and the safety of components using various testing instruments. The role involves observing installed equipment for hazards and the need for adjustments, relocating, or replacement, and disassembling/repairing defective electrical equipment or systems. Additionally, the electrician will load, transport, and unload materials, tools, equipment, and supplies, and maintain tools and equipment. A key aspect of the role is adhering to safety procedures such as LOTO and observing all safety and project rules. The ability to distinguish colors is also required.
