About The Position

The Industrial Electrician works in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, providing exceptional service to the company and its employees. This role is responsible for the installation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems supporting plant processing and operations. The role requires a strong sense of urgency, with the ability to respond promptly to electrical issues in order to restore production efficiently, minimize downtime, and ensure safe, reliable operations. The ideal candidate will have industrial electrical experience; however, candidates with strong mechanical aptitude, industrial maintenance experience, and a demonstrated ability and desire to develop electrical skills are encouraged to apply. Depending on qualifications and experience, the selected candidate may be considered for an electrical apprenticeship or structured on-the-job training opportunity to develop the skills necessary to perform the full scope of the position.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and possibly work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to safely lift a minimum of 30 pounds and up to a maximum of 50 pounds.
  • Awareness of surroundings at all times.
  • Required to wear all personal protective equipment (PPE) and strictly follow all safety protocols.
  • Flexibility to work shift hours, including overtime and weekends as needed.
  • Detail-oriented, safety-conscious, able to follow standard operating procedures, and committed to accuracy and quality.
  • Strong analytical skills to detect and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions.
  • Ability to systematically identify the cause of equipment failures.
  • Strong mechanical and/or electrical troubleshooting ability.
  • Proactive approach to identifying improvement opportunities and suggesting solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn new troubleshooting techniques and technical skills.
  • Commitment to adhere to company safety procedures, including lockout protocols.
  • Ability to work in a teamwork-oriented environment with limited supervision.
  • Ability to operate maintenance equipment and tools safely and effectively.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all employees and company information.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of maintenance activities.
  • Computer literate; comfortable using Internet and web-based applications.
  • Proficient with MS Outlook email; some experience with MS Word and Excel preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • State of Idaho Journeyman Electrical License preferred but not required at entry.
  • Forklift certification preferred.
  • Vocational or technical training in electrical, industrial maintenance, mechatronics, or a related field preferred.
  • Completion of an electrical apprenticeship program preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and P&IDs preferred.
  • Knowledge of AC/DC circuits, transformers, breakers, motor controls, and electrical distribution preferred.
  • Proficiency with electrical testing equipment, including voltmeters, ammeters, ohmmeters, clamp meters, and logic probes, preferred.
  • Familiarity with lockout procedures, OSHA regulations, and other safety standards preferred.
  • Willingness to learn secondary maintenance skills in instrumentation and other areas as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems according to applicable codes and company standards.
  • Troubleshoot and repair motors, transformers, PLCs, VFDs, control panels, sensors, and power distribution systems.
  • Test and analyze electrical systems using diagnostic devices such as voltmeters, ammeters, ohmmeters, clamp meters, and logic probes.
  • Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, motors, controls, and other electrical components.
  • Conduct preventive and predictive maintenance tasks.
  • Assist with the installation, modification, and startup of electrical and electromechanical equipment.
  • Troubleshoot equipment utilizing both electrical and mechanical knowledge.
  • Develop proficiency in electrical troubleshooting and repair through experience, training, and/or apprenticeship.
  • Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, engineering drawings, and P&IDs.
  • Troubleshoot PLCs, AC/DC drives, control systems, transformers, and other industrial electrical equipment.
  • Inspect equipment to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs.
  • Learn and apply electrical troubleshooting techniques, codes, and procedures as required for the position.
  • Follow Lockout procedures, GMPs, and all safety regulations.
  • Implement necessary safety procedures and safeguards during all tasks.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical codes, food safety, and sanitation requirements.
  • Maintain a strong awareness of electrical hazards and safe work practices.
  • Use appropriate PPE and follow all established safety procedures.
  • Proactively communicate with departments and outside vendors to ensure proper operation and maintenance of systems.
  • Work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Share knowledge and assist other maintenance team members as appropriate.
  • Ask questions and seek assistance when needed to ensure work is performed safely and correctly.
  • Promote a respectful, safe, and positive workplace.
  • Follow directions from management professionally and respectfully.
  • Work duties are performed with limited supervision and within established guidelines, with increasing independence as proficiency is demonstrated.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and suggest solutions.
  • Participate in electrical training, apprenticeship, or other developmental opportunities as applicable.
