About The Position

This position is responsible for working safely by adhering to the plant’s accident prevention policies and maintaining a safe and clean working environment. The role involves installing, performing preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting electrical components within the manufacturing plant and other USG properties, including a quarry. The electrician will maintain, test, and repair AC/DC motors and motor control systems, and develop skills to troubleshoot advanced control system and instrumentation equipment including PLC controls. The role requires interpreting and using wiring schematics, operating electrical test equipment, and understanding NEC codes, NFPA-70E, and other Industrial Electrician duties in a manufacturing environment. Participation in workplace organization, 5S Initiatives, and continuous improvement projects is also expected.

Requirements

Must have the desired technical skills to work safely and proficiently as an electrician in a manufacturing plant setting.
Possess basic mechanical maintenance skills.
Ability to interpret and perform tasks as detailed on printed work orders.
Basic computer skills needed to complete safety training and review work-related email.
Ability to operate equipment as needed, including forklifts, etc.
Familiar with common hand tools and how to properly use them.
Good collaboration skills and ability to work as part of a team.
Must be willing and available to take occasional after-hour callouts as part of on-call rotation.
Willing and able to work in various hot, cold, and dusty environments.
May be scheduled overtime as needed.
This position is primarily dayshift hours but may occasionally be scheduled other than dayshift as needed to support plant operations.
