About The Position

This role involves repairing, installing, replacing, and testing electrical circuits and equipment within an establishment. The electrician will use hand tools and testing instruments to isolate defects in wiring, switches, motors, and other electrical equipment. The position requires adherence to safety, cleanliness, and code requirements.

Requirements

One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to present information in one-on-one situations to customers and other employees.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, whole numbers, fractions, & decimals.
Knowledge of mechanics, shop math, and machinery procedures.
Ability to work within close tolerances of .001 to .003 inches.
Ability to work from blueprints and/or sketches.
Regularly required to talk or hear.
Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms.
Occasionally required to climb or balance.
Moderately required to stand, walk, or sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Occasional heavy lifting 100 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects up to 50 lbs.
Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Repetitive Hand Action: Firm grasping - the ability to exert sufficient grip to pick-up a case of 12 oz. soft drinks or to pick-up a bowling ball. Requires approximate grip strength of 45-60 lbs. on a hand dynamometer.
Fine Manipulation of Hands/Fingers: Sufficient coordination to place and screw a small washer on a bolt, to pick-up clip from a desk top, or pick up a dime off a counter top.
Use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms.
Ability to work in two (2) person teams.

Responsibilities

Repair, install, replace, and test electrical circuits and equipment.
Isolate defects in wiring, switches, motors, and other electrical equipment.
Perform duties using ammeter, ohmmeter, voltmeter, and/or testing lamp.
Replace faulty switches, sockets, and other elements of electrical systems.
Inspect equipment and diagnose trouble.
Dismantle electrical machinery and replace defective electrical or mechanical parts such as gears, brushes, and armatures.
Mount motors, transformers, and lighting fixtures into position and complete circuits according to diagram specifications.
Inspect completed work and ensure that work conforms to requirements of local building and safety codes.
Conduct all works in a safe, clean and orderly manner.
May perform other duties as requested.
May participate on project teams as requested.
