About The Position

Trek is seeking two Industrial Design Interns for its Summer 2027 internship program at Trek Waterloo HQ in Waterloo, Wisconsin. The internship offers an inside look at a potential career path and the opportunity to apply coursework to practical work. Interns will gain exposure to day-to-day tasks and longer-term strategies while working with experienced designers, engineers, riders, and cross-functional teams. The team develops bicycle products with a focus on performance, sustainability, and rider experience.

The intern will contribute to real-world product development and design challenges, helping develop and test bicycle components and systems. The position is a full-time summer internship beginning May 24, 2027. Applicants are asked to submit a resume and cover letter with their application. Requirements

• Currently pursuing a degree in Industrial Design.
• Strong sketching and storytelling skills.
• Experience building, assembling, and testing prototypes.
• Familiarity with CAD software; Onshape and Rhino or Blender are ideal.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Passion for bicycles and interest in product design.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Nice To Haves

• Hands-on experience with prototyping or fabrication.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design and prototyping of bicycle components and systems.
• Support sketching, CAD modeling, rendering, and design reviews.
• Support rider research and early brainstorming of future mobility ideas.
• Ride bikes to help test and validate designs.
