About The Position

As Branch Customer Service, this position will serve customers in a variety of ways. One responsibility will be to drive to deliver product in an efficient, safe manner while also performing warehouse duties such as receiving, shipping, organizing, stocking, and maintaining products and materials. Another essential responsibility will be to assist walk-in customers and counter sales at the store location. This includes shipping and receiving functions, making quotations on standard items, processing orders, relaying pertinent information to customers, coordinating with other departments on purchase orders, and providing value-added services to customers.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Thorough understanding of or the ability to quickly learn production operations and machinery.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software to complete reports and logs.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment with associates.
  • Must be able to read measurements on a ruler, digital calibrator, tape measure, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Receives requests for product selection, price quotations, purchase orders, order changes, adjustments, and cancellations directly from customers.
  • Achieves and maintains rapport with customers and works to give them the best possible customer service.
  • Uses corporate ERP system (P21) to retrieve customer information, stock status information, purchase order status, and make changes to customer purchase orders.
  • Ensures that correct codes are used for retrieving and inputting information.
  • Performs regular “cycle counting” of stock inventory.
  • Uses hand tools (chop saws, cut-off saws, and hydraulic crimper) to make custom hose-assemblies for walk-in customers.
  • Researches part numbers and specifications in vendor catalogs.
  • Operates the retail counter by handling walk-in cash and credit card sales.
  • Assists in shipping and receiving functions.
  • Unloads and loads trucks for shipments.
  • Checks in merchandise and verifies incoming materials against packing lists to ensure accuracy.
  • Looks up and computes inbound freight using zip codes and weight to determine freight costs to be added to customer order in corporate ERP system.
  • Assembles customer orders according to the pick ticket by pulling parts from warehouse shelving and putting them in the appropriate area for shipment to customer.
  • Quality checks orders to ensure correct items are picked and the correct shipping method is used before shipping the order to the customer.
  • Packages customer orders in the best way possible to prevent damage or loss during shipment to customer.
  • Operates a forklift to put away or pull material and performs general warehouse duties.
  • Enters information into the corporate ERP system.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment, including maintaining aisle ways, keeping warehouse stock neat and orderly, and removing trash and recycling to the appropriate dumpster.
  • Wears proper safety equipment for the task being performed.
  • Uses computers to ship customer orders by verifying carrier, freight, and payment method.
  • Puts stock away according to bin location.
  • Drives truck, van, or other vehicle.
  • Prepares shipments and verifies load against shipping paper.
  • Schedules delivery route, sorts, and loads delivery items in the most efficient means to be delivered.
  • Loads delivery vehicle in a safe manner, ensuring the load will be safe to travel to its destination without damage to product or vehicle.
  • Handles VMI accounts.
  • Delivers and stocks material at customers’ facilities.
  • Inspects and maintains the delivery vehicle, checking all fluids, lights, brakes, and tires, and ensuring they are serviced regularly.
  • Keeps the vehicle clean both inside and out.
  • Assists warehouse personnel when in the warehouse after daily deliveries are completed.
