About The Position
Skillforce is currently hiring an experienced Controls Technicians for a 10–12 week automation and controls installation/debug project in the Louisville, KY area. This is a hands-on opportunity for a skilled controls professional with experience troubleshooting automated manufacturing systems who is comfortable working night shift in a high-volume manufacturing environment. The Controls Technician will assist with equipment installation, startup, debugging, troubleshooting, and repair of automated manufacturing systems.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Controls Technician, Controls Specialist, Automation Technician, or similar role
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting PLCs and automated manufacturing equipment
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and controls documentation
- Ability to troubleshoot controls issues independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Comfortable working night shift and 8–12 hour shifts
- Must be available to work a schedule that may include 6–7 days per week
- Must have a laptop/computer capable of running the required controls software
Nice To Haves
- Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs is preferred
- Experience with Ignition MES is preferred
- Experience with Siemens S7 PLCs is a plus
- Experience with Beckhoff controls is a plus
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair automated manufacturing and control systems
- Troubleshoot PLCs and associated control systems
- Support installation, startup, commissioning, and debugging of automated equipment
- Troubleshoot electrical and controls issues to minimize equipment downtime
- Work with Ignition MES to troubleshoot controls and production-related issues
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, PLC programs, and controls documentation
- Assist with system integration and equipment startup
- Identify and resolve issues with sensors, control devices, and automated equipment
- Work closely with electricians, maintenance personnel, engineers, and other technicians during installation and debug activities
- Document troubleshooting activities, modifications, and repairs as needed
