About The Position

Maco Packaging is looking for an experienced Industrial Controls Electrician to join our Maintenance team. This position is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving the electrical, controls, and automation systems used throughout our manufacturing operation. You’ll work closely with Maintenance, Engineering, and Production to minimize equipment downtime and improve equipment reliability, safety, and performance.

Requirements

  • Strong industrial electrical and controls troubleshooting skills.
  • Working knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, sensors, motors, industrial controls, and automation systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, control drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Knowledge of industrial electrical theory, AC/DC circuits, motor controls, and 480V systems.
  • Ability to identify root causes, solve problems, and make sound decisions under time pressure.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining effective communication with the team.
  • Intermediate computer skills, including Windows navigation, spreadsheets, and maintenance/CMMS systems.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, organization, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to maintain composure and professionalism in high-pressure production situations.
  • A positive attitude and commitment to safety, quality, and performance.
  • High school diploma/GED, completion of a recognized electrical or controls apprenticeship, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Five (5) years of industrial electrical/controls experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with food processing, packaging, and/or flexible packaging equipment is a plus.
  • Experience with ISO standards and manufacturing quality systems preferred.
  • PLC programming or troubleshooting experience, particularly Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, is preferred.
  • Journeyman electrician license or industrial electrical certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair industrial electrical, controls, and automation systems.
  • Diagnose PLC, HMI, VFD, servo, sensor, motor, relay, and control-circuit problems.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and control drawings.
  • Perform electrical installations, machine wiring, modifications, startups, and equipment commissioning.
  • Troubleshoot PLC inputs/outputs, industrial networks, and equipment communication issues.
  • Support automated production equipment, conveyors, packaging equipment, and process systems.
  • Make approved PLC program adjustments and basic controls modifications as required.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain AC/DC motors, drives, starters, control panels, and related electrical equipment.
  • Assist Engineering with equipment upgrades, automation projects, new equipment installations, and process improvements.
  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective electrical maintenance.
  • Use electrical test equipment and diagnostic tools to identify and correct equipment failures.
  • Document electrical and controls repairs, modifications, and recurring equipment issues.
  • Respond to production downtime and equipment emergencies in a timely manner.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce downtime, improve reliability, and eliminate recurring failures.
  • Provide technical support, troubleshooting assistance, and guidance to Maintenance team members.
  • Follow OSHA, NFPA 70E, LOTO, GMP, and all company safety requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
