About The Position

Airbus Aerosystems Kinston is looking for an Industrial Engineer - Composite to join their team. This role supports the ME Engineer for Composite Technologies, focusing on improving composite production processes and supporting the ramp-up of A350 production rates. The position also serves as the primary contact for composite ME topics in Kinston, acting as an interface with the broader composite community within Airbus.

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in Engineering
  • 5 years experience with AIRBUS composite manufacturing, processes and regulations
  • Composite Manufacturing skills - Working experiences and study of manufacturing processes used for composite materials
  • Composite material knowledge - Study or working experience with Composite materials
  • ME processes knowledge - Working experience with ME processes, best case of AIRBUS, but at least in Aviation industry
  • Transnational working experience - Working experience within international environment
  • Google working environment
  • English: Influencing, fluent
  • Authorized to work in the US
  • Vision: able to see and read computer screen and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings.
  • Hearing: able to hear to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on production floor including safety warnings or alarms.
  • Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications.
  • Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts.
  • Carrying: able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
  • Lifting: able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
  • Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools.
  • Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on computer.
  • Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.
  • Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on production floor.
  • Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces.
  • Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site.
  • Steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visit, appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor.

Responsibilities

  • Advise and support the site for AIRBUS composite process conform to AIPI/AIPS and other composite process and regulations.
  • Check existing AIPI/S in Airbus process and secure the implementation of this in the site.
  • Give advisory to Management for process securance.
  • Secure the exchange with other plants to have aligned and validated process and exchange on lessons learned.
  • Support improvement projects to protect the ramp up of A350 and propose new projects to improve and secure.
  • Propose new ideas to improve Leadtime and Cost of composite processes.
  • Write specifications for Composite manufacturing machines and environment with the support of the existing AIRBUS Composite network.
  • Secure exchange with other AIRBUS plants to create lessons learned for composite ME technologies.
  • Be the interface between Kinston Composite community and existing AIRBUS composite communities to enable growth.
  • Perform administrative tasks and occasional shop floor visits requiring specific PPE.
