About The Position

As a Custodian at JLL, you'll play a vital role in maintaining clean, safe, and welcoming environments for our clients and their employees. This hands-on position is essential to delivering exceptional facility services and upholding JLL's commitment to operational excellence. You'll be responsible for comprehensive cleaning and maintenance duties across assigned facilities, ensuring every space meets the highest standards of cleanliness and functionality. Your attention to detail and dedication directly impact the daily experience of building occupants and contribute to creating productive, healthy work environments that support our clients' business success.

Requirements

  • Physical ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods, regularly lift up to 10 pounds, frequently lift up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
  • Demonstrated physical stamina and trunk strength to perform overhead work while balanced on ladders, and flexibility to bend, kneel, twist, and reach confined or difficult-to-access areas
  • Proficiency in various cleaning techniques, procedures, and knowledge of cleaning products, tools, and equipment appropriate for different surfaces and environments
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain high cleanliness standards, coupled with effective time management skills to complete tasks within established schedules
  • Ability to read, write, comprehend, and communicate basic instructions, with effective verbal communication skills to interact with colleagues, supervisors, and customers

Nice To Haves

  • Previous custodial or janitorial experience in commercial or institutional facilities
  • Experience operating forklift or electric tugger equipment
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and ability to maintain a safe working environment while adhering to established guidelines
  • Customer service orientation with a friendly, helpful attitude when addressing concerns and ensuring satisfaction
  • Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks while maintaining cleanliness and order across assigned areas

Responsibilities

  • Clean building floors using various methods including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, steam cleaning, shampooing, and vacuuming, while operating specialized equipment such as riding floor scrubbers, vacuums, sweepers, and carpet extractors
  • Gather and empty trash and recycling throughout facilities, and clean and polish furniture, fixtures, windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using appropriate cleaning solutions and equipment
  • Mix cleaning solutions according to specifications, and perform floor care including stripping, sealing, finishing, and polishing to maintain optimal surface conditions
  • Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment regularly, and move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies either manually or using hand trucks as needed
  • Maintain exterior grounds by using power trimmers, clearing debris, removing snow from sidewalks and parking areas, and applying snow-melting chemicals during winter months
  • Monitor building conditions and notify managers of needed major repairs or additions to building operating systems, and requisition supplies and equipment for ongoing maintenance duties
  • Respond to special cleaning projects including restoration work on building interiors damaged by fire, smoke, or water using commercial cleaning equipment
