About The Position

As a team member, the Mechanic maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs high-volume food manufacturing equipment. They prioritize personnel and food safety at all times.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years work experience in a maintenance environment or equivalent education.
  • Experience in a high-speed manufacturing environment (Food industry is highly preferred).
  • Must have strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Must have a strong understanding of AC/DC motors, motor control circuits, and photoeyes / sensors, etc.
  • Knowledge of conveyance a strong plus.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Familiarity with CMMS work order systems
  • Food manufacturing background a plus with an understanding of FDA requirements
  • Must have good attention to detail.
  • Ability to understand verbal and written instructions.
  • Should be able to understand blueprints and drawings
  • Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision
  • Must be able to work at heights from ladders or scissor lifts
  • Must be able to make decisions
  • Should have a working knowledge of the following: Welding, Machining, Plumbing, Pipefitting, Electricity
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write English

Nice To Haves

  • Food industry is highly preferred
  • Knowledge of conveyance a strong plus
  • Food manufacturing background a plus with an understanding of FDA requirements

Responsibilities

  • Must be able to operate and maintain all plant and facility support equipment, including but not limited to compressed air system, HVAC systems, Steam system, etc.
  • All Electrical and Mechanical Troubleshooting.
  • Must exceed all "Mechanic Level 1" Mechanical Qualification.
  • Must ensure safe work practices (NFPA 70e, LOTO, etc.)
  • Respond and react to mechanical and electrical issues in the production environment in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Proficient knowledge at reading electrical schematics and mechanical diagrams to aid in troubleshooting.
  • Keep a clean and organized work area.
  • Complete maintenance projects - PM tasks and work orders as assigned.
  • Modify, repair, install, maintain, improve, and troubleshoot various types of machinery, equipment, and facilities in the building.
  • Recognizes waste and recommends initiatives for elimination or reduction.
  • Use the CMMS (SAP) to complete work orders, write corrective work orders, check out parts, etc.
  • Diagnose problems, provide quick & innovative solutions for equipment breakdowns by applying proven skills in the principles of mechanics, fitting, basic welding, metal fabrication, machining, troubleshooting, and analytical problem solving.
  • Provide recommendations for continuous improvement in the facility.
  • Written and oral communication of daily pass-down activities to other technicians and team lead.
  • Maintain proper documentation of plant equipment
  • Adheres to GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) standards as well as HACCP compliance and other food safety and workplace safety initiatives.
  • Follows attendance policy.
  • Observes department call-in procedures.  Exhibits timely arrival and departure and dependable time habits including meal and other breaks.
  • Maintains a positive attitude and gets along well with coworkers.
  • Exhibits teamwork and willingness to help others.
  • Follows dress code and maintains a professional appearance.
  • Can be relied upon to complete assigned tasks.
  • Complies with established Departmental and Organizational policies and procedures.
  • Works within a team environment to meet/exceed established production standards.
