About The Position

This is an existing vacancy for a full-time contract Individual and Family Therapist for the Intensive In-Home Treatment (IIHT) program. The Individual and Family Therapist is responsible for providing a broad range of therapeutic and service co-ordination services to children between the ages of 6-12 and their families in the Scarborough and East York area, in the context of flexible service delivery to reduce barriers to service and accommodate client need. The Individual and Family Therapist provides family and individual assessments and counseling as well as group services to support children presenting with mental health concerns and their families in reaching their identified treatment goals.

Requirements

  • Registered member and in good standing with professional college (Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario). We are unable to accept applicants in the process of qualifying for their respective college.
  • Master’s level education (Master of Social Work or equivalent).
  • One year of related experience post master’s completion.
  • Awareness of the role of inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility (IDEA) in the workplace and within the community being served by the position.
  • An understanding of anti-black racism, anti-oppressive/anti-racism perspective in the context of the social determinants of health.
  • Ability to recognize and identify situations where incidents of imbalance of power and privilege may occur and can result in possible negative impacts.

Nice To Haves

  • Functional computer and client information system knowledge.
  • Fluency in another language(s), including sign language.

Responsibilities

  • Provide therapy and treatment utilizing client-centered, trauma informed, evidence-based interventions to children presenting with mental health concerns and their families in accordance with organizational standards to support symptom reduction and improve children’s mental health.
  • Consult and collaborate with community partners, agencies and individuals regarding children’s mental health to guide the development and implementation of treatment plans, and to ensure that service including admission/ reason for referral and discharge planning is delivered in a clinically appropriate, coordinated, and timely fashion.
  • Enters clinical information into organization’s client information system and maintain appropriate, up-to-date clinical reports and recordings in accordance with organizational policy and guidelines, and consistent with recording guidelines from accreditation bodies.
  • Incorporate and integrate ongoing learning, and evidence-based/ informed practices to enhance quality clinical work. Support learning of new staff and/ or colleagues.
  • Work in a safe manner and adhere to the established health and safety measures and practices in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations and adheres to organizational policies and procedures.
