About The Position

The Indirect Underwriter provides sound underwriting decisions for credit requests received through all channels and practices effective communication skills with the branch, indirect dealers and department staff to ensure promotion and support of loan growth goals.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of consumer loan application processing, member service and loan underwriting experience is required
• Experience underwriting Indirect Channel loans is required
• Excellent knowledge of consumer loan regulations, policies and procedures.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Excel and all CU Data Processing Systems and related Loan Operating systems and applications.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including business writing ability.
• Excellent time management skills and accustomed to working with deadlines.
• Strong customer service orientation.
• Detail-oriented and accurate.

Responsibilities

• Performs Consumer Loan Underwriting activities related to final decisions on all consumer loan requests with the goal of achieving an optimal outcome for the Credit Union and the member. Ensures compliance with established Credit Union policies, guidelines, and regulatory requirements. Utilizes a high degree of independence in problem solving and decision making. Performs Consumer Loan Underwriting for ORNL FCU employee loan requests within designated authority inclusive of obtaining credit reports and income while maintaining the highest level of confidentiality
• Maintains internal contacts with other departments and Indirect Loan Program dealers regarding loan decisions, processes, and current status. Communicates directly with Dealer Partners to negotiate or modify loan decisions. Communicates with diplomacy to influence decisions while fostering relationships. Communicates with other Departments and Branches to ensure understanding of Consumer and Indirect Loan Policies and Procedures
• Manages individual portfolio performance consistent with organizational requirements. Conducts rate comparison surveys to ensure competitive market position
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned
