About The Position

AEP is recruiting for a Senior or Principal Tax Analyst to become part of its Corporate Tax team with a focus on Property Tax. This position supports AEP's growth initiatives and aligns with the organization's objective to establish itself as a leading electric utility company in the United States.

Requirements

Experience with ERP systems, asset management systems, forecasting software, and data analytic tools (Power Query, Alteryx).
Strong attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities.
Ability to build relationships with customers and team members.
Outstanding organizational and multi-tasking capabilities.
Bachelor’s degree required.
Tax Analyst Senior: Minimum 3 years’ experience in business, finance, or accounting disciplines, with at least 2 years of indirect tax functions.
Tax Analyst Principal: Minimum 5 years’ experience in business, finance, or accounting disciplines, with at least 3 years of indirect tax functions.

Professional certifications (CPA, CMA, CIA) are valued but not required.

Responsibilities

Prepare and review state and local property tax returns, reports, estimates, work papers, and analyses.
Develop property tax schedules for financial reports, forecasts, regulatory filings, and special studies.
Manage property tax accounting activities, including related reconciliations.
Process property tax payments and negotiate property values with state and local tax jurisdictions.
Leverage data analytics and AI to improve efficiency, accuracy, and consistency of existing processes.
Monitor property tax developments and assess their impact on the company.
Conduct and supervise tax research, planning, and risk identification related to business activities.
Advise business partners on property tax matters for new business ventures and evolving corporate structures.
Participate in state and local tax audit processes, including responding to auditor questions.
