About The Position

EECU is seeking a detail-driven Underwriter to join their fast-paced and dynamic Indirect Lending team. The Indirect Underwriter will be responsible for underwriting all auto loans that originate at an indirect dealership and help drive smart decisions that fuel success. The role involves initial in-office training for the first 6 months, followed by a hybrid schedule (3 days in office, 2 days remote) for those in good standing and meeting specific internet requirements. The company provides necessary equipment for remote work.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years underwriting experience preferred.
  • Patience when dealing with dealers to facilitate a proper lending decision.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Advanced computer proficiency.
  • Sales or customer service background.
  • Knowledge of credit union operations.
  • Experienced underwriter, preferably with an indirect lending background.
  • Analytical skills and goal-driven.
  • A high school degree or equivalent is required.
  • Availability Monday-Saturday with shifts starting between 8 am and 11 am, primary 10 am - 7 pm shift.
  • Availability to potentially work every Saturday.
  • Good credit history.
  • Reliable wired, high-speed internet and broadband connection (20Mbps+ download speed/ 5Mbps+ upload speed) for hybrid work.

Nice To Haves

  • Excel knowledge is preferred.
  • College degree or business-related education is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Underwriting all auto loans that originate at an indirect dealership.
  • Understanding and implementing lending guidelines to maintain acceptable credit risk.
  • Ensuring loans comply with EECU’s lending criteria, SOP’s, and State requirements.
  • Maintaining working knowledge of all State and Federal guidelines, as well as EECU’s internal policies.
  • Responding to dealers in a timely manner on all loan applications and requesting contacts for approved loan requests.
  • Working directly with dealers on contract issues outside of original approval, requiring diplomacy and tact.
  • Providing assistance in obtaining outstanding chargebacks, dealer reserves, and lien perfection on indirect accounts.
  • Calling on dealers to assist in building strong dealer relationships.
  • Providing assistance on calculating chargebacks and dealer reserves to ensure compliance.
  • Maintaining a charge-off portfolio of less than 1%.
  • Providing feedback to management from dealers to allow for adjustments to the indirect lending program.
  • Ensuring compliance with all Federal and State rules and regulations including Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering, Bank Bribery Act, NCUA Privacy Regulations, Reg B, Reg Z, Service Members Civil Relief, and FCRA/FACTA.
  • Attending initial and ongoing annual Bank Secrecy Act training.
