Magistrate Court is performed at the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Department courtroom daily. Prepare arrest files with proper forms for defendant and judge. Interview defendants while in custody to determine financial status for indigent defense appointments. Assist judge with questions, copies, forms or as needed. Provides assistance for data collection, data entry and validation of data concerning the Indigent Defense Program. Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers. Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Good computer and typing skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Flexible with magistrate hours
  • Good interpersonal and organizational skills and ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees and elected officials.
  • Ability to complete assigned projects.
  • REQUIRED TO WORK EVERY WEEKEND AND HOLIDAY.
