About The Position

My client is an established and growing mining company that is advancing a major Canadian project toward construction and operations. As part of this transition, the organization is building out its Sustainability and External Relations function and is seeking multiple professionals across three levels: Stakeholder and Indigenous Engagement Lead (Senior / Lead) Stakeholder and Indigenous Engagement Analyst (Intermediate) Stakeholder and Indigenous Engagement Coordinator (Junior/Intermediate) These roles collectively support the development and execution of Indigenous and community engagement strategies, ensuring respectful, transparent, and effective relationships with Indigenous Nations, local communities, regulators, and other stakeholders. Across all levels, these roles contribute to the planning, execution, and continuous improvement of stakeholder and Indigenous engagement programs. The team is responsible for building long-term, trust-based relationships, supporting regulatory and permitting processes, managing commitments, and ensuring accurate documentation and reporting of engagement activities. The work is both strategic and operational, ranging from high-level engagement planning and negotiations to on-the-ground coordination, communications, and administrative support.

Requirements

Background in Indigenous Studies, Environmental or Social Sciences, Communications, or related field
Coordinator: 2–5 years or relevant internships/co-ops
Analyst: 2–5 years in engagement, communications, or coordination roles
Specialist: 8+ years in Indigenous relations, stakeholder engagement, or related leadership roles
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced project environment
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and engagement tracking systems

Nice To Haves

Experience working with Indigenous Nations and understanding of Indigenous cultures and protocols is highly valued
Experience supporting regulatory or permitting processes is an asset

Responsibilities

Support or lead Indigenous and community engagement aligned with project objectives
Build and maintain respectful relationships with Indigenous Nations, communities, and stakeholders
Coordinate and participate in meetings, site visits, and community events
Prepare engagement materials, reports, presentations, and correspondence
Maintain accurate engagement records, databases, and tracking systems
Track commitments related to agreements, permits, and regulatory requirements
Support development and implementation of community programs and partnership initiatives
Identify risks and opportunities related to stakeholder engagement and escalate as needed
Collaborate internally across sustainability, regulatory, and project teams
Lead engagement strategy and execution (Senior/Lead Level)
Direct engagement and negotiation with Indigenous Nations (Senior/Lead Level)
Oversight of engagement plans (Senior/Lead Level)
Ensure commitments, agreements, and regulatory requirements are met (Senior/Lead Level)
Represent the company externally with senior stakeholders (Senior/Lead Level)
Collaborate with legal and technical teams on agreements (Senior/Lead Level)
Provide leadership across the engagement function (Senior/Lead Level)
Support the delivery of engagement programs (Analyst Level)
Ensure strong internal coordination and documentation (Analyst Level)
Prepare communications, reports, and engagement materials (Analyst Level)
