About The Position

Backyard Discovery is seeking independent contractors in Utah to assemble and install residential outdoor play equipment, including wooden playsets, swing sets, and related structures. Contractors provide services at residential locations designated by Backyard Discovery and must follow manufacturer installation instructions and safety standards. They supply the labor, tools, equipment, and materials needed unless otherwise specified, and are expected to maintain a safe and orderly worksite and complete installations in a timely, workmanlike manner.

Work is project-based, with compensation agreed upon for each installation. Contractors choose whether to accept offered jobs; there is no guaranteed volume of projects or hours, and contractors may work for other clients. This is a 1099 independent contractor opportunity, not employment. Contractors are responsible for their taxes, insurance, and business expenses and are not eligible for employee benefits or employment protections. Backyard Discovery also offers access to insurance through its third-party partner NICA for contractors who do not have the minimum liability coverage.

Requirements

• Be an established independent contractor, such as a sole proprietor, LLC, or other business entity.
• Own the tools and equipment required for the work.
• Have reliable transportation.
• Be able to perform physical, outdoor work.
• Maintain general liability insurance meeting Backyard Discovery's minimum coverage requirements, or use the insurance option offered through its third-party partner NICA.
• Be responsible for applicable taxes, insurance, and business expenses.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and install Backyard Discovery outdoor playsets and related products at residential locations.
• Follow manufacturer installation instructions and safety guidelines.
• Provide labor, tools, equipment, and materials necessary to complete services unless otherwise specified.
• Communicate professionally with customers about scheduling and site readiness.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly worksite.
• Complete installations in a timely and workmanlike manner.
• Document completed installations as required.
• Comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and licensing requirements.
