About The Position

The Incoming Quality Inspector is responsible for receiving, inspecting, and verifying incoming raw materials, components, supplies, and equipment to ensure compliance with engineering specifications, purchase order requirements, and quality standards. This position serves as the first line of quality assurance by conducting inspections, documenting results, identifying nonconforming materials, and coordinating with Quality, Purchasing, and Operations to ensure only acceptable materials are released for production. The Incoming Quality Inspector also maintains accurate receiving records and supports inventory accuracy through proper documentation and material disposition.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 6–12 months of receiving, inspection, manufacturing, warehouse, or quality experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and purchase orders.
  • Basic understanding of inspection methods and measuring equipment.
  • Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, and measurement conversions.
  • Ability to accurately document inspection results and maintain quality records.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and occasionally up to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to follow written, verbal, and diagram instructions.
  • Candidates must be a U.S. Citizen (due to ITAR/UNNPI regulations at the Antigo facility).

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in incoming inspection, quality assurance, receiving, warehouse operations, or manufacturing.
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, dial indicators, and gauges.
  • Experience reviewing engineering drawings, specifications, and quality documentation.
  • Experience working within an ISO 9001 or AS9100 quality management system is preferred.
  • Experience with ERP or inventory management systems.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify defects and specification discrepancies.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and inspection requirements.
  • Strong documentation and recordkeeping skills.
  • Effective communication skills to work with Quality, Purchasing, Production, Engineering, and suppliers.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple inspections while maintaining accuracy.
  • Working knowledge of basic quality inspection techniques and nonconformance reporting.
  • Ability to make objective inspection decisions based on established specifications.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and quality or ERP software.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across departments.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and inspect incoming raw materials, components, supplies, and equipment against purchase orders, engineering drawings, specifications, and receiving documentation
  • Perform incoming inspections using visual inspection techniques and precision measuring equipment (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, thread gauges, etc.) as required.
  • Verify quantities, part numbers, certifications, material traceability, dimensions, and product specifications.
  • Review supplier documentation including Certificates of Conformance (CoC), material certifications, inspection reports, and other required quality documentation.
  • Document inspection results accurately in quality and inventory management systems.
  • Identify, document, and communicate nonconforming materials to Quality, Purchasing, Engineering, and suppliers as appropriate.
  • Create and maintain records of incoming inspection activities in accordance with quality management system requirements.
  • Segregate and properly identify nonconforming material to prevent unintended use.
  • Coordinate disposition of rejected or discrepant materials with the Quality department.
  • Release accepted materials for inventory or production following inspection approval.
  • Maintain traceability of incoming materials and ensure proper labeling and identification.
  • Assist with supplier quality initiatives by providing inspection data and supporting supplier corrective actions when required.
  • Maintain organized receiving and inspection areas to promote efficiency and compliance.
  • Operate material handling equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, etc.) to safely move and stage incoming materials.
  • Support inventory accuracy through timely receipt and documentation of materials.
  • Follow company safety procedures, quality standards, and regulatory requirements, including ITAR/UNNPI compliance.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities related to receiving, inspection, and supplier quality processes.
