As an Inclusion Specialist, you play a critical role in ensuring children with disabilities and developmental needs receive comprehensive, coordinated support in Head Start and Early Head Start programs. You help identify needs early, connect families to services, and ensure individualized plans are implemented with fidelity. This role goes beyond compliance — it is about inclusion, advocacy, and supporting every child’s opportunity to thrive through collaboration with families, educators, and community partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Early Childhood Education, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience working with children with disabilities, developmental delays, or behavioral needs.
  • Knowledge of developmental screenings, early intervention, and special education processes.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • A compassionate, mission‑aligned approach with a commitment to inclusion, equity, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate disability and inclusion services, including screenings, assessments, and implementation of IFSPs and IEPs.
  • Partner with families, staff, and community agencies (LEAs, ECI providers) to support children’s developmental and behavioral needs.
  • Monitor and maintain accurate documentation, records, and compliance with Head Start Performance Standards.
  • Provide training and technical assistance to staff and families on developmental needs and inclusive practices.
  • Track child progress, identify concerns, and support timely referrals, transitions, and service coordination.
