About The Position

Community Living Hamilton (CLH) is seeking a Full-Time Permanent Inclusion Facilitator to join their Special Needs Resourcing team. CLH is a large organization supporting adults and children with diverse abilities, dedicated to helping them achieve their full potential and be included in the community. This role is part of the Special Needs Resourcing (SNR) services within Hamilton's childcare system, focusing on providing high-quality, diverse, equitable, and inclusive services. The Inclusion Facilitator will act as a role model for inclusion and a resource to the classroom team, implementing best practices to ensure all children can participate fully in their learning and development. This is an existing vacancy.

Requirements

  • Diploma in Early Childhood Education from an Ontario College of Applied Arts and Technology, or through a program on the approved list of post-secondary programs as recognized by the College of Early Childhood Educators
  • Valid registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators
  • Additional training/experience/education related to working with children with special needs
  • Previous experience/training relating to Certification in First Aid including infant/child CPR
  • Valid Driver’s license and access to vehicle
  • Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination
  • Registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators (required)
  • Class G Licence (required)

Nice To Haves

  • Fluency in a 2nd language ie. French
  • Experience with diverse client groups
  • Training/ Education in Mental Health
  • Training/ Education in ASD
  • Additional job related training/ certifications

  • Be a resource to the whole classroom team in implementing best practices that will allow all children to participate fully in their own learning and development.
  • Help build understanding and awareness to remove barriers and achieve inclusion.

  • Understand a situation, explore options and make the best choice to achieve success.
  • Provide support and guidance to others, building on strengths and encouraging others to work towards their goals.
  • Take the action needed to follow through on plans and act on opportunities and address concerns.
  • Deal with people in a sensitive and respectful manner.
  • Listen and understand perspectives.
  • Continue on, even in difficult situations and be willing to take a stand for what is right.
