The Opportunity Reporting directly to the Supervisor, Community Programs/ Programmer, Specialty Programs, this casual position is responsible for supporting participants with physical, cognitive and/or developmental disabilities, ensuring a welcoming environment for inclusive and adapted programs, while working in accordance with the Town of Caledon guidelines, practices and procedures for Community Programs and Customer Service standards.

Requirements

  • Current Intermediate First Aid and CPR-C
  • A minimum of one (1) year related experience in a program or support role.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate program delivery
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organization skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Satisfactory passing of a vulnerable sector check
  • Proof of qualifications

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with individuals with special needs/disability and/or demonstrates interest in working with individuals with a special need/disability
  • Certification in HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to participants to foster involvement/engagement in programs and assist participants with daily needs, which may include but not limited to verbal prompting for task like toileting, feeding, dressing/changing and behaviour modifications.
  • Prepare facilities, teaching material, lesson plans and material for participants as required.
  • Work with the Supervisor/Programmer of Specialty Programs to complete and/or verify the accuracy of participant profiles.
  • Perform administrative tasks (i.e., attendance, preparation, Injury and Incident Reports etc.)
  • Maintain composure in escalated situations as they arise and immediately report incidents to the Coordinator/ Programmer or designate.
  • Perform additional duties and undertake special projects as assigned.
