About The Position

Working at Target means helping all families discover the joy of everyday life, brought to life through its values and culture. The General Merchandise and Food Sales team consists of experts in operations, process, and efficiency, ensuring a consistent guest experience by managing product setting, in-stock levels, accurate pricing, and sales floor signage. This team handles inbound, outbound, replenishment, inventory accuracy, presentation, pricing, and promotional signing for all General Merchandise areas, as well as leading Food & Beverage and Food Service to provide a fresh and food-safe experience. They also enable efficient delivery to guests by owning pick, pack, and ship fulfillment work. As an Inbound Expert, you will gain skills and experience in guest service fundamentals, supporting a guest-first culture, retail business fundamentals (including department sales trends, inventory management, and process efficiency), and executing daily/weekly workload to meet business priorities and sales goals.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • Welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and other team members.
  • Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners, and other technology equipment as directed.
  • Ability to work both independently and with a team.
  • Ability to resolve guest questions quickly on the spot.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow multi-step processes.
  • Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes.
  • Accurately handle cash register operations as needed.
  • Ability to climb up and down ladders.
  • Ability to scan, handle, and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting, carrying, and moving merchandise up to 44 pounds throughout the duration of a shift without additional assistance from others. This task involves repetitive bending, twisting, reaching, and rotating motions.
  • Flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends and holidays); come to work when scheduled, work scheduled shifts and take required meal and rest breaks.
  • Capable of working in and exposure to varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements while performing certain job duties including but not limited to Drive-Up, carryout, etc.
  • Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift.
  • Enjoy interacting and helping others - including guests that shop our store and fellow team members you work with.
  • Thrive in a fast-moving, highly active and physically demanding role, where teamwork, flexibility, and creative problem solving are key to success.
  • Open to working a flexible work schedule with varying hours, days or shifts (including nights, weekends, holidays and other peak shopping times).

Responsibilities

  • Create an Easy, Inspiring and Friendly guest experience by delivering on the following commitments: Greet guests (10ft: be friendly – smile, make eye contact, or wave; 4ft: greet the guest, smile and initiate a warm, helpful interaction), Help guests find what they need and/or resolve issues to ensure a smooth, easy shopping experience, End every guest transaction with a sincere thank you.
  • Actively support team efforts and assist peers in other areas while maintaining a positive and respectful attitude.
  • Adjust to business and guest needs to deliver an easy and inspiring guest experience.
  • Execute a detailed, accurate and efficient sorting operation.
  • Stock, organize and store reserve product and straighten merchandise on sales floor.
  • Maintain product availability on the salesfloor for GM categories.
  • If certified, operate powered equipment as necessary while unloading freight or moving merchandise.
  • Process defective merchandise and handle environmentally sensitive (ESIM) items in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety and compliance. Work in a safe manner at all times; comply with all safety policies, best practices, and training; report hazards and correct where possible.
  • Support guest services such as back-up cashier, order pick up (OPU) and Drive up (DU) and maintain a compliance culture while executing those duties, such as compliance with federal, state, and local adult beverage laws.
  • All other duties based on business needs.
