Inbound Sales Strategist (Influencer Maketing)

The Shelf Influencer Marketing Agency

About The Position

This role is not a traditional inbound sales position focused on converting warm leads. The Inbound Sales Strategist will be responsible for managing qualified inbound revenue from the initial discovery call through to the signed agreement. This requires a blend of strong sales instincts and expertise in influencer marketing. The individual will collaborate with brand teams to understand their business challenges and develop program recommendations based on successful past campaigns, rather than theoretical approaches. The ideal candidate will function as a hybrid of a Sales Lead and Strategist within the inbound sales funnel.

Requirements

  • Sales skills: Consultative, curiosity-led discovery.
  • Strong deal qualification and control.
  • Comfort closing without a script.
  • Executive-level communication.
  • Domain fluency in influencer program strategy & design.
  • Understanding of creator tiering and platform nuance.
  • Experience with retail-specific activations.
  • Knowledge of measurement trade-offs and benchmarks.
  • High ownership, low need for oversight.
  • Bias toward action and outcomes.
  • Comfortable being measured on revenue.
  • Ability to leverage AI tools for operating efficiency.
  • Prior influencer marketing agency or brand side experience.
  • Account management or strategy background.
  • Proven track record converting senior buyers.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with retail-driven programs is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage inbound revenue from start to finish, including leading discovery calls, strategy framing, proposal alignment, and closing deals.
  • Maintain deal momentum from the initial conversation to the signed agreement.
  • Design influencer programs by translating brand goals (e.g., retail launches, DTC awareness, conversion campaigns, retailer-specific activations) into concrete recommendations.
  • Develop recommendations covering platform mix, creator tiers, content formats, measurement frameworks, and realistic timelines.
  • Utilize deep knowledge of past campaigns, retail-specific programs (Walmart, Sam's Club, Amazon), and performance data to answer client questions regarding budget, platform choice, and cost-per-engagement (CPE).
  • Conduct thoughtful, insight-driven follow-ups that add value, refine scope, provide new data, and present relevant case studies to maintain deal progress.
  • Control the sales process and ensure deals move forward effectively.
