FT Inbound Freight Handler
About The Position
As a full-time Inbound Freight Handler, you will load and unload freight onto and off of equipment and assist in recouping damaged freight. You will prepare, sweep, and inspect trailers before loading freight; use safe lifting techniques and appropriate freight-handling equipment; weigh and measure shipments; and plan trailer cube utilization and weight distribution. You will count and inspect freight, document shortages or damage, review freight bills and manifests, and follow special instructions. When handling hazardous materials, you will verify product descriptions, identify paperwork discrepancies, and confirm proper placarding. You will also block and brace freight to prevent shifting during transport.
Requirements
- Ability to satisfactorily pass a background check.
- Ability to satisfactorily pass an alcohol and drug test.
Nice To Haves
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Prior experience as a Forklift Operator, Dock or Warehouse Worker, or Material Handler preferred.
- Previous Forklift Certification preferred.
Responsibilities

- Compare labels and destination codes on manifests with freight bills.
- Check special instructions and weight distributions on headloads, and compare headloads with freight bills when loading.
- Verify hazardous-material product descriptions, identify paperwork discrepancies, and verify proper placarding.
- Block and brace freight to prevent shifting during transport.
