About The Position

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to supervise students in the In School Suspension (ISS) program at Deer River High School. The ISS Supervisor will provide a structured and supportive environment for students who require disciplinary action, ensuring they remain engaged in their academic work while addressing behavioral issues. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, a commitment to student success, and the ability to foster a positive learning atmosphere. AFSCME Grade 4

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field preferred.
Previous experience working with adolescents in an educational or counseling setting is highly desirable.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with students and staff.
Ability to manage classroom behavior effectively and maintain a calm and supportive environment.
Knowledge of behavioral management techniques and conflict resolution strategies.
Proficiency in using technology and educational software for academic support.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of students and staff.
Commitment to fostering an inclusive and respectful school culture.
Must pass background checks as required by school district policies.

Responsibilities

Supervise students in the In School Suspension room, ensuring a safe and orderly environment.
Monitor student behavior and provide guidance to promote positive decision-making.
Assist students with their academic assignments and ensure they remain on task.
Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and administration to develop and implement appropriate interventions for students.
Maintain accurate records of student attendance, behavior, and academic progress during ISS.
Facilitate discussions with students regarding their behavior and help them develop strategies for improvement.
Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and behavior in ISS.
Prepare and distribute weekly reports on student performance and behavior to relevant staff.
Ensure that all school policies and procedures are followed within the ISS program.
Attend staff meetings and participate in professional development opportunities as required.
