About The Position

This position serves as an Instructional Assistant within the In-School Suspension program at Fishers High School. The role requires supporting teachers and administrators in maintaining a positive and productive learning environment for students assigned to suspension. The assistant will help manage student behavior, assist with instructional tasks, and perform various duties to support the daily operations of the suspension program.

Requirements

• An associate of arts degree
• Two years of college (48 credit hours)
• Pass the ParaPro exam (state assessment test for knowledge of an ability to assist in the instruction of reading, writing and math)
• Ability to communicate effectively with student and other staff members.
• Ability to proficiently aid teacher in the performance of clerical duties.
• Ability to work well with staff and students in her/his charge.
• Demonstrate respect for super-ordinates, subordinates and peers.
• Support corporation decisions and direction relative to matters of policy and administrative directives.
• Work as a team player.
• Demonstrate ability to deal with sensitive issues in a tactful and professional manner.
• Address concerns and offer suggestions in an appropriate and confidential manner.

Responsibilities

• Aid teacher in preparing classroom for school.
• Help prepare and distribute lesson materials.
• Instruct students under teacher supervision.
• Keep classroom neat and orderly.
• Aid teacher in arranging bulletin boards.
• Supervise cafeteria, playground, etc. under teacher supervision.
• Assist with all clerical duties, i.e., student records, copying, etc.
• Aid in preparing the classroom for the close of school.
• Maintain effective communication with teacher.
• Work with groups of students inside and/or outside the classroom.
• Assess abilities and assist with the collection of academic/behavioral data of students.
• Any other related duties as may be assigned by the building principal.
