About The Position

Assists campus personnel in maintaining a safe and orderly environment by improving students’ attitudes and behaviors, which impacts the overall learning climate of the campus. This role requires the ability to work well with children and students, effective organizational and communication skills, and knowledge of general office equipment. The position involves supervising assigned students throughout the school day, providing instructional assistance, keeping teachers and administrators informed of student progress, maintaining a neat and orderly classroom, and preparing administrative records and reports. Participation in staff development, faculty meetings, and special events is also required. The role may involve working in a confined area with limited adult interaction and requires maintaining emotional control and exercising reasoning and problem-solving skills under stress. Safety is a key component, requiring adherence to safety rules, District policy, and immediate reporting of any injuries or incidents.

Requirements

  • Educational Aide I Paraprofessional Certificate
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to work well with children/students
  • Effective organizational and communication skills
  • Knowledge of general office equipment
  • Experience working with children/students or parents
  • Must maintain emotional control and exercise reasoning and problem solving skills while under stress
  • Must demonstrate ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written)

Responsibilities

  • Supervise assigned students throughout the school day, both inside and outside the classroom
  • Oversee and provide instructional assistance to individual students on assignments as provided by the teachers
  • Keep the teachers/administrators informed of any special needs, problems, and progress of individual students
  • Maintain a neat and orderly classroom
  • Keep administrative records and prepare reports as required
  • Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events as required
  • Contribute to the prevention of accidents and injuries by observing safety rules and District policy, practicing the principles and skills taught in safety training, wearing personal protective equipment as required, reporting injuries and incidences immediately to supervisor, and being proactive in the ongoing efforts to improve and maintain workplace safety.
