About The Position

The In Room Dining Server/Order Taker is responsible for receiving orders, preparing orders, and delivering items to guestrooms in an attentive, courteous, and efficient manner. This role requires adherence to the company's Service culture – 4 Keys to creating guests for life, and participation in all hotel required meetings and trainings. Maintaining high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including proper uniform/business attire and nametag, is essential. The position involves complying with Hotel Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations, preparing stations, stocking work areas, checking VIP lists, communicating orders to the kitchen, setting trays and tables, delivering orders, retrieving trays, maintaining the delivery cart, preparing and delivering amenities, calling guests before delivery, performing opening and closing duties, conducting quality checks, having thorough knowledge of menus and specials, assisting the order taker with telephone duties, communicating guest needs, and abiding by all hotel policies and safety rules. Additional duties may be requested by management.

Requirements

  • Responsible Beverage Service Certification (required by California Laws).
  • Food Handlers Certification (required by California Laws).
  • Must be 18 years of age to drive a golf cart.
  • Exerting up to 30 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Must be able to stand and work for extended periods of time during customary service hours.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop or reach as needed.
  • This role requires driving a golf cart.
  • Proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States (confirmed through the federal E-Verify system).

Responsibilities

  • Receive orders, prepare orders, and deliver items to guestrooms.
  • Adhere to the company’s Service culture – 4 Keys to creating guests for life.
  • Participate in all hotel required meetings and trainings.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including wearing the proper uniform/business attire and nametag.
  • Comply with Hotel Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
  • Prepare station in anticipation of the day’s business.
  • Stock work areas with china, glassware, linen, coffee pots, napkins and ensure that stock is clean and polished.
  • Check VIP list and communicate orders to the kitchen and the next room service shift.
  • Set trays and tables according to established standards.
  • Deliver orders according to established standards.
  • Retrieve trays on a timely basis.
  • Maintain delivery cart clean and presentable.
  • Prepare and deliver amenities.
  • Replenish as needed.
  • Call all guests before delivery of order.
  • Perform opening and closing duties according to established side work checklist.
  • Conduct quality checks after each delivered order.
  • Have a thorough knowledge of menus and current specials and upsell items to guests.
  • Assist order taker in the answering of the telephone while maintaining the established standards.
  • Communicate guest needs to proper department.
  • Abide by all hotel policies and safety rules.
  • Perform other duties as requested by management.
