About The Position

Braintrust Tutors is seeking mission-driven individuals to accelerate learning for students in need through high-impact literacy and math interventions. Tutors will partner with districts nationwide, delivering evidence-based instruction and personalized support. The role offers a community that values expertise, provides technology, and fosters coaching and collaboration with a shared purpose of developing confident learners. Educators are drawn to Braintrust Tutors for the immediate impact of their work, consistent support, and ongoing recognition. As a Reading Tutor, you will work with elementary students in a school setting to improve reading comprehension, fluency, and critical thinking using structured intervention programs. As a Math Tutor, you will help students strengthen mathematical reasoning, number sense, and problem-solving strategies through engaging lessons based on Braintrust Tutors' curriculum. While the priority is matching tutors with in-person engagements, opportunities for additional online roles may be available to supplement schedules.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field
  • Active/expired teaching license or at least 5 years of experience working with K-8 students in an educational environment
  • (READING) Experience with reading instruction that includes morphology-based word study, vocabulary development, reading comprehension strategies, and writing skills covering grammar, syntax, and multi-paragraph composition using a structured scope and sequence.
  • (MATH) Knowledge of math instruction that builds number sense, procedural fluency, and problem-solving skills, with a scope and sequence ranging from counting to multi-digit arithmetic, including decimals and fractions.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
  • Comfort collaborating with teachers and staff
  • Punctuality, professionalism, and reliability for all scheduled sessions
  • Reliable transportation and/or appropriate technology for instruction
  • A laptop with Windows or macOS that uses either Chrome/Edge Chrome 115+ (recommended), Firefox 115+ or Safari 16+. iPads are also acceptable with iOS 17 or greater with an external keyboard
  • Passion for literacy and closing opportunity gaps

Responsibilities

  • Provide small-group reading/math tutoring to students developing literacy skills
  • Implement Braintrust Tutors' intervention programs as designed, using all materials with fidelity
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance and academic performance
  • Collaborate with the Braintrust Tutors Operations team and school staff to support student growth
  • Foster a supportive and engaging classroom environment that promotes focus and confidence
  • Follow school-site procedures and policies while maintaining a professional and dependable presence
  • Use the provided assessments and progress monitoring tools for understanding to guide instruction
  • Manage time effectively during sessions to complete all planned instructional activities
