About The Position

Tutor Doctor is seeking a patient, energetic, and encouraging tutor to work with a first-grade student at the Oxford Public Library. This active and energetic six-year-old has strong listening comprehension and engages well during instruction. He benefits from positive reinforcement and may shut down when frustrated, so patience, encouragement, and an upbeat approach are essential. The ideal tutor will create interactive, multisensory sessions using movement, magnets, tactile tools, and other hands-on activities. Lessons should connect with the student’s interests, which include football, fishing, lacrosse, basketball, gymnastics, animals, dinosaurs, superheroes, Disney, and Curious George.

Requirements

  • Experience working with early elementary students.
  • Knowledge of beginning phonics and literacy skills.
  • Ability to use patient, positive, and engaging teaching methods.
  • Dependable and able to meet consistently in person at the Oxford Public Library.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting handwriting or fine motor development.
