About The Position

MileOne Autogroup, one of the largest private automotive retail businesses in the United States, is adding to our legal department at our Towson headquarters. We are immediately hiring a full-time Attorney for our growing team. This is a unique opportunity for an early-career Attorney to work directly on a broad range of strategic and practical contributions that actually move the company forward. We are hiring a candidate that is interested in developing their litigation, corporate and business skills while working closely with colleagues throughout the company. This is a chance to meaningfully and visibly contribute to the company’s next chapter. In-house counsel at MileOne means no billing pressure, direct access to executive leadership, and real ownership over matters that affect the entire business. You won't be one of fifty associates waiting for meaningful work - you'll be a core contributor to a growing legal team whose responsibilities include shaping marketing policy and procedures in response to evolving regulations, managing compliance with federal and state privacy and data protection laws (including GLBA requirements), supporting the development and delivery of employee training programs, drafting and maintaining corporate records, and providing day-to-day guidance related to the company’s retail operations. This is an in-office position where you will interact directly with five other legal team colleagues and benefit from their experience. You will report directly to the Associate General Counsel. With dedicated mentors, intentional internal development and exposure to entire matters from start to finish – not a sliver of an issue with no view of how it resolves – you will improve your skills and value as a well-rounded lawyer and counselor.

Requirements

  • Licensed and in good standing with the Maryland Bar preferred.
  • Exceptional recent law school graduates committed to sitting for the July bar exam will be considered.
  • Up to 4 years of experience.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to translate the implications of legal concepts for non-lawyer colleagues and external counterparties.
  • Self-driven, detail-oriented, and able to manage competing deadlines independently.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in advertising, motor vehicle, or consumer credit law is a plus but not a requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Review, draft, and negotiate a diverse range of commercial agreements — software licensing one day, a commercial lease amendment the next.
  • Develop fluency across a broad range of regulatory areas (including privacy and data security, employment law, consumer credit, motor vehicle regulations, advertising compliance, and more).
  • Shape policies, procedures, and internal frameworks that help safeguard the business.
  • Gain courtroom experience through District Court appearances, representing MileOne as both plaintiff and defendant.
  • Assist in providing business context and ensuring the company’s interests are represented effectively when matters require outside counsel.
  • Shape marketing policy and procedures in response to evolving regulations.
  • Manage compliance with federal and state privacy and data protection laws (including GLBA requirements).
  • Support the development and delivery of employee training programs.
  • Draft and maintain corporate records.
  • Provide day-to-day guidance related to the company’s retail operations.
