About The Position

Visiting Angels of Reading is hiring an In Home Personal Aide to assist senior adults in their homes throughout the local area, including Sinking Spring, Reading, Wyomissing, West Lawn, Whitfield, Colony Park, and Spring Ridge. This role involves providing personal one-on-one care, helping clients maintain their independence and dignity while recovering at home or continuing to live at home.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum of 6 months experience in caring for Seniors and/or Disabled Adults professionally or personally
Excellent time-management skills
Reliable transportation to client visits
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Familiarity with basic housekeeping and cooking tasks
Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen
Training/knowledge in First Aid and emergency response
A heart for vulnerable people seeking meaningful companionship
Willingness to comply with state and office-specific health and safety standards

Responsibilities

Helping clients handle personal care and hygiene
Managing light housekeeping
Encouraging clients to meet their exercise and fitness goals
Prompting clients to take their prescription medications at the right times
Helping clients with shopping and putting away groceries (or shopping for them)
Planning and preparing meals in collaboration with clients (based on client ability)
Assisting clients with mobility and ambulation (e.g., getting around the house, doctor visits, walks)
Acting quickly in the case of medical emergencies
Reporting any health changes or unusual circumstances
