About The Position
This In-Home Aide (IHA) Training Program is designed for individuals with no or limited experience who aspire to become caregivers. The program equips participants with the necessary knowledge and practical skills to provide safe and compassionate care in home and community-based settings. It involves self-paced online modules followed by a hands-on skills practicum in a training lab. Key learning outcomes include fundamentals of personal care, safety, infection control, assistance with daily living activities, proper body mechanics, mobility support, and effective communication. Participants will gain real-world caregiving practice under instructor guidance. The program is delivered in a hybrid format, combining virtual coursework with on-site skills training.
Requirements
- 18 years of age or older
- Reliable internet access for virtual learning
- Commitment to complete both program components
- Genuine interest in serving seniors and individuals with disabilities
- Must be able to lift at least 25 lbs
Responsibilities
- Complete self-paced online modules.
- Participate in hands-on skills practicum in the training lab.
- Learn fundamentals of personal care, safety, and infection control.
- Learn to assist with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming).
- Learn proper body mechanics and mobility support.
- Develop effective communication skills with clients, families, and clinical teams.
