About The Position

This role is part of the Markets Data Risk Execution team, focusing on improving and enhancing risk management controls and processes for Markets data. The team supports data quality issue management, governance, and analytics across all aspects of data risk for both First- and Second-Line functions. The team works closely with Global Markets Trading Businesses, In-Business Risk (IBR), Market Risk, Finance and other 2LoD in setting standards and procedures, leading governance, building and managing controls across processes and activities within Markets processes, Standardized Approach for calculating Counterparty Credit Risk under Basel regulations (SA-CCR) and Fundamental Review of the Trading Book (FRTB) Standardized Approach (SA) and Credit Valuation Adjustment (CVA).

Requirements

  • 10+ years in Data Analytics within Banking (Markets), with a strong grasp of financial products, operational intricacies, and various Markets asset classes (Fixed Income, Equities, Derivatives, FX), including their data structures and valuation methodologies
  • Comprehensive understanding of data's role in business decision-making, including data modeling and manipulation patterns
  • Knowledge of typical data quality issues at process touchpoints in complex technology environments
  • Strong data mining skills with advanced SQL
  • Advanced Tableau for data analysis and visualization
  • Advanced Python/Jupyter for data analysis
  • Proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to manage tasks in issue management tools (e.g., JIRA, DCRM)
  • Experience in data governance or data quality issue management (IM) using glossary, lineage, and DQ tools
  • Expert in creating and executing robust governance frameworks to improve data quality and meet regulatory commitments
  • Knowledge of structured project management techniques in a front office environment
  • Industry experience in data, data management, and/or regulatory initiatives; knowledge of data methodologies, controls, thresholds, and data quality rules
  • Demonstrable experience in front-to-back data process flows, risk and control, and support functions within a large bank/dealer
  • Experience in analyzing legislative, regulatory, and legal/compliance texts.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, expertly crafting compelling narratives through data storytelling and monitoring controls, with the judgment and authority to deliver insightful commentary and recommendations to senior stakeholders
  • Ability to understand the bigger picture while focusing on critical details, including process purpose, products, data capture, and reports
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to understand process steps for remediation
  • Excellent proficiency in Tableau, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and Teams, and daily use of AI
  • Effective organizational influencing skills and strong project management capabilities to drive initiatives to completion
  • Ability to coordinate with other data management roles (Process Owners, Data Stewards)
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategy and process improvement initiatives
  • Bachelor’s Degree/University degree or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

  • Manage data quality (DQ) issue management processes and support DQ governance in various forums
  • Engage in DQ issue triage, prioritize business needs, and provide proactive guidance to partners
  • Implement processes for effective internal data quality controls, monitor DQ reports, metrics, and drive continuous improvement to reduce inherent risks
  • Implement data quality reporting by defining and implementing business, data, and system-related control and issue remediation frameworks.
  • Work closely with business partners on findings, make recommendations, and coordinate with stakeholders to drive change and issue resolution
  • Understand and ensure compliance with relevant policies (e.g., Citi Data Governance Policy), identify new requirements applicable to markets, and remediate gaps
  • Appropriately assess risk in business decisions, ensure compliance, and escalate/manage control issues transparently
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to senior stakeholders and operate with a limited level of direct supervision
