About The Position

The Improvement Facilitator's responsibility is to identify, develop, and implement opportunities for improvement in processes, products, and production within the Roll Shop. Responsibilities include the development of new and the refinement of existing standards, structures, systems, and equipment to ensure process efficiency and effectiveness. The incumbent is responsible for driving continuous improvement through the application of methodologies, QIS improvement principles, technical and engineering tools, working in close coordination with the appropriate Superintendent, Routine Facilitator, and Operational staff within the assigned area of responsibility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Materials Science
  • 1–3 years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
  • Strong working knowledge of steel manufacturing methods and techniques involving the use of heavy mill machinery and related equipment
  • Previous experience in manufacturing operations, supervisory or facilitation roles
  • Experience in using AutoCAD, Inventor, or equivalent software
  • Experience with MasterCAM, SmartCAM, or equivalent CNC programs for milling machines and lathes
  • Experience in project management
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge of business systems and complex technical and engineering processes
  • Exposure to heavy machinery maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Proven ability to train, coach, and develop employees
  • Exposure to inventory management
  • Strong presentation, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Detail-oriented, results-driven, and capable of working effectively with employees at all organizational levels

Responsibilities

  • Assist the site Improvement Facilitators, Routine Facilitators, Department Superintendent and Plant Management in ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of all improvement aspects within area of responsibility, focusing on continuous improvement and integration of improvement principles, as well as technical and engineering principles.
  • Identify best practices and act as a change agent to help achieve a higher level of results by utilizing and implementing improvement processes.
  • Participate and contribute to achievement of department goals including goal setting.
  • Collaborate with Routine Facilitators on subjects pertaining to the processes, improvement standards, CAPEX, audits, 5S initiatives, failure analysis, results management, QIS, FA, Six Sigma and other process improvement methodologies
  • Identify and solve chronic/repetitive problems and failures and reduce process variation through data analysis.
  • Assist with development of the Annual Action Plan and the administration of established policies, practices and procedures.
  • Implement and coordinate CAPEX and Annual Action Plan Improvement projects.
  • Oversee, contribute to, and support daily improvement management activities, including providing timely and accurate cost estimates on proposed improvement efforts.
