The Import Brokerage Manager will compile and prepare commercial regulatory documents for entry processing, coordinate and confirm release while operating in compliance with US customs regulations. This role will coordinate and assist with the release of goods from the carrier, customs, or other governmental agency examinations. The manager will monitor independent company designated U.S. Customs brokers to ensure proper declarations are made to U.S. Customs regarding the classification and importation of cargo. They will interface with U.S. Customs and other Federal agencies at the local and national level to ensure compliance with all pertinent laws and regulations as directed by the VP of Imports. This position will provide consultation to clients on the importation of goods through U.S. Customs, governmental regulations/inspections, changes in import regulations, transportation, bonding/insurance requirements, and general industry expertise. The manager will review and ensure import performance and transit time analysis reports are distributed appropriately. They will provide guidance and training to import staff on client service, processing, and managing the flow of essential import documentation including letters of credit, commercial invoice and associated certificates, Country of Origin requirements, and communication and notifications to clients and vendors. This role will establish recordkeeping standards and oversee file maintenance in accordance with U.S. Customs regulations and company policies. The manager will ensure that all personnel are providing a high level of client service for the internal and external client. They will utilize superior communication skills to motivate staff, work with the sales force, and help develop effective working relationships with peers, executives, and clients. The manager will oversee and manage the professional development and productivity of staff members to ensure proper goals, training, professional development, and project requirements are met. They will conduct bi-yearly performance reviews for all staff within the department. The manager will stay informed of emerging technology changes and innovations through formal or informal study, reading business and professional publications, networking, and participating in professional organizations. They will ensure data critical to supply chain initiatives is maintained and updated. This role is responsible for any and all other responsibilities required for complying with U.S. Customs & Border Protection and other duties as assigned.
