About The Position

As part of the newly formed Truck Technology organization, The Integration and Coordination Team (ICT) is critical in both the upper left and right sections of the “V” model software development process and is the single point of communication between the global software development team and the regional vehicle platform engineering teams to develop the best in class commercial vehicle features and customer experience. This role will interface with Product Strategy and end user customers to translate market needs into technical requests. This role will also be responsible for regional release of electronic hardware, software and configuration parameters into Freightliner and Western Star production application IMACS and be the first point of contact for software issues from manufacturing. This position will be part of a team of regional engineers responsible for integration of all Truck Technology Software for domains Active Safety, Driver Experience, Vehicle Controls & Upfit, and Powernet & Architecture. This individual will design and release per serial logic and ensure successful Vehicle Electrical Electronic Programming (VEPS) of HiL, Test Trucks, and all production vehicles. The ideal candidate should be excited to be part of a key contributor to fulfilling Truck Technology Software team’s vision of world-class truck features.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics or Computer Engineering and 0-2 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple tasks on hand
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements
  • Ability to work in an environment of ambiguity and ongoing change
  • An attached resume is required

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with CANalyzer or other CAN based tools
  • Previous experience with automotive systems
  • Previous experience designing, diagnosing or troubleshooting ECUs and/or software

Responsibilities

  • Translate product definition into software technical specifications
  • Ensure successful Vehicle Electrical Electronic Programming (VEPS) Test and Production vehicles
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot software issues on Test vehicles
  • Resolve manufacturing issues, Custom Work Orders, and exemption requests
  • Release of hardware and software design documentation
  • Design and release per serial vehicle configuration matrixes and order intake compatibility rules
  • Release ECU assemblies and both component and feature configuration parameters
  • Design and release configuration matrix logic
  • Triage all manufacturing software issues
  • Resolve configuration issues
  • Participate in ongoing continuous improvement activities
