How will you make a difference as an Associate at Fragomen? Develop an expert-level understanding of your client base and the industries you support as well as the firm’s practice areas and services provided. Assess eligibility of corporate foreign national employees for non-immigrant and immigrant visa status. Work with client global mobility personnel to prepare petitions and applications for submission to government agencies for non-immigrant and immigrant foreign national employees. Draft and prepare letters and legal documents, typically based on established precedents. Conduct research to support client requests and projects. Supervise the work of paralegal staff in record keeping and document preparation. Demonstrate a willingness to learn and effectively implement guidance and direction offered by supervisors and experienced colleagues. Proactively communicate with clients, within SLAs/team protocols and with a precise, efficient, thoughtful, and organized response. Partner with colleagues to resolve client issues, share information, and support client projects. Support clients in immigration program management and compliance. Use firm technology accurately and in line with team and client protocols, ensuring accurate and complete data is entered. Actively contribute to team meetings and firmwide activities. Act as a source of advice and training to more junior colleagues, proactively sharing immigration knowledge and expertise. Ensure self and team follow documented firm standards and policy to mitigate risk and ensure regulatory, operational and client compliance. Other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Canadian bar lawyer with a minimum of 2 years’ experience and knowledge of immigration law
  • Proven ability to build strong working relationships with clients and staff
  • Responsible for managing a broad caseload in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to identify issues, analyze facts and determine appropriate case strategy.
  • Effectively utilize on-line research tools and comfortable working with client management systems.
  • Displays professionalism, quality service and a “positive” can do attitude and contribute to the Firm's overall initiatives.
