About The Position

Community Law Group, PLLC, also known as “Abogados de la Comunidad,” is seeking an Entry-Level Immigration Attorney passionate about immigration law, eager to develop litigation skills, and committed to serving immigrant communities. This role offers hands-on courtroom experience, mentorship, and professional growth for a newly licensed or early-career attorney. The firm focuses on serving Hispanic and diverse communities in Tennessee, helping immigrant families with legal challenges. The position involves assisting with removal defense, immigration court proceedings, humanitarian applications, legal research, client consultations, and case strategy development, providing significant opportunities to gain litigation experience and expertise in immigration law.

Requirements

Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
Active license to practice law in any U.S. jurisdiction.
Interest in Immigration Law and litigation.
Strong legal research and writing skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Willingness to attend Immigration Court hearings in Memphis, Tennessee.
Commitment to serving immigrant and multicultural communities.

Nice To Haves

Bilingual in English and Spanish.
Clinical, internship, externship, or volunteer experience in immigration law.
Familiarity with USCIS, EOIR, or humanitarian immigration matters.
Prior courtroom, mock trial, or advocacy experience.

Responsibilities

Represent clients before USCIS and Immigration Court under attorney guidance.
Appear at Master Calendar Hearings and other scheduled court proceedings.
Assist with asylum, adjustment of status, family-based immigration, U Visas, VAWA, SIJS, and other humanitarian immigration matters.
Conduct legal research and prepare legal memoranda.
Draft motions, briefs, declarations, applications, and supporting legal documents.
Prepare clients for interviews, hearings, and consultations.
Analyze client eligibility for immigration benefits and relief.
Work closely with legal assistants and paralegals to ensure efficient case management.
Maintain regular communication with clients regarding case progress and next steps.
Develop litigation strategies under attorney supervision.
Monitor deadlines and ensure timely case progression.
