About The Position

The PPS (Perspective Payment System) Coordinator assumes responsibility for data collection, completion and transmission of the Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility Patient Assessment Instrument (IRF-PAI) in accordance with Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Knows, follows and actively supports the philosophy, mission and vision of Ingalls Memorial Hospital. Adheres to all hospital policies, procedures and standards of care. Observes and adheres to all corporate compliance requirements and communicated issues as they arise to be appropriate parties as identified in the Corporate Compliance Plan.

Requirements

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing, social work, recreational therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy or speech-language pathology
  • Valid license in the State of Illinois.
  • Minimum of four years of recent, progressively responsible experience within clinical area of assignment with demonstrated ability for planning, organizing, and coordinating quality patient services; demonstrated abilities in complex skills and rehabilitative practice as well as demonstrated leadership and personnel management abilities.
  • Must have training in IRF-PAI coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Adheres to all hospital policies, procedures and Ingalls standards of care
  • Utilizes resources appropriately and refers to coders, eRehabdata and physiatrists as needed
  • Collaborates with the clinical care team and rehab interdisciplinary team to assure appropriate, FIM scoring and CMG placement
  • Maintains an environment which is characterized by trust, acceptance, recognition and respect.
  • Strong patient advocate.
  • Actively supports the vision, philosophy, mission, goals and objectives of the hospital.
  • Gathers clinical data to determine proper CMG.
  • Enters data into eRehabdata system within the first 72 hours.
  • Provides the Interdisciplinary Team FIM data prior to initial and subsequent conferences.
  • Obtains the latest regulatory and accreditation agency updates regarding PPS final rules.
  • Transmits data to Medicare on a timely basis for proper reimbursement.
  • Successful completion of Annual Competencies.
  • Develops and administers annual FIM Competency for all Rehab Staff.
  • Presents program evaluation data from eRehabdata system at least quarterly to Leadership Team for discussion.
  • Responsible for clinical education of unit staff; assists with orientation.
  • Orients new rehab staff to FIM scoring.
  • Participates in program development activities.
  • Responsible for leading quality improvement activities on the Rehab Unit by identifying, tracking and reporting data.
  • Reviews medical record for compliance with IRF-PAI documentation requirements.
  • Ensures that the clinical, financial and medical record coding are in compliance prior to electronic submission.
  • Monitors unit “60/40” compliance and prepares annual information for reporting CMS.
  • Demonstrates adherence to Ingalls Performance Standards of Service in all interactions with all stakeholders.
  • Seeks educational and learning experiences in areas of identified growth needs and reviews progress during annual evaluation
  • Responsible for maintain ongoing competency of assessment of self
  • Promotes the philosophy and goals of Vision through creating an atmosphere of shared information, teamwork and support
  • Actively advocates for patients overall well being, approvals for length of stay and services that are required upon discharge
  • Assists Leadership in achieving unit goals
  • Willingness to assume and participate in additional projects and assignments
  • Participation in Leadership meetings
  • Maintain responsibility for attendance and punctuality
