About The Position

The Clinical Supervisor, RN in the Intermediate/Progressive Care Unit, plays a vital role in managing daily unit operations while providing exceptional patient care. This leader supports the team's professional development, ensures adherence to clinical protocols, and fosters a collaborative environment to achieve optimal patient outcomes. GW Hospital is a 395-bed tertiary care, academic medical center located in downtown Washington, DC. Featuring a Level I Trauma Center and a Level III NICU, GW Hospital offers clinical expertise in a variety of areas, including cardiac, cancer, neurosciences, women's health, and advanced surgery, including robotic and minimally invasive procedures. Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
  • Active and unencumbered RN license in the state of Washington, D.C. (or ability to obtain before start).
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical nursing experience in a Progressive Care or Intermediate Care setting.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily clinical and operational activities of the Intermediate/Progressive Care Unit.
  • Act as a mentor and resource to nursing staff, supporting their professional growth and performance improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, nursing standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide high-quality patient care and achieve unit goals.
  • Address and resolve patient or staff concerns in a timely and effective manner.
  • Participate in staff scheduling, performance evaluations, and hiring processes.
  • Monitor and analyze unit metrics to implement performance improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain an active presence on the unit to support staff and provide guidance.
